Jabal Al-Nour in Mecca

  • Jabal Al Nour, also known as the “Mountain of Light” or “Hill of Illumination,” is well-known for housing the Hira cave, the site of the Prophet Mohamed’s (PBUH) first of many revelations. It is possible to see for miles around this rocky peak. Jabal Al Nour is a well-liked destination for pilgrims due to its significance in Islamic history and the breathtaking views of Makkah and the Holy Mosque from its summit.
  • A quick drive will take you to Jabal Al Nour from the Old City. Most tourists and pilgrims attempt the summit at dawn, dusk, or in the evening because the sun and heat are intense during the day. The duration of the climb varies depending on your physical capabilities, from 45 minutes to 3 hours.
  • You will arrive at the summit and the Hira cave, which are identified by a sign painted on stone, after climbing about 1,200 steps.

Attraction at Jabal Al Nour

  • Outside of the holiest city of Makkah, in the Saudi Arabian Hejaz region, in the Cave of Hira, is Jabal Al Noor.
  • In Islam, Jabal Al Noor Mountain is of great significance because it is thought to be the location where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received the first revelation from Allah SWT during the final ten days of Ramadan (610 CE).
  • Even though the Cave of Hira is only four meters long and only five people can fit inside, pilgrims performing the Hajj and Umrah line up to pray inside the revered cave.
  • Although Jabal Al Noor’s peak can be seen for many meters in all directions, it is still advisable to bring a water bottle in order to stay hydrated throughout the ascent.
